Islanders Ink 19-year old Bailey to Entry Deal

Is there a better way to celebrate your 19th birthday than to receive your first professional contract? I don't think so, and neither does Islanders 2008 first round pick Josh Bailey as he signed a three-year entry level deal on Thursday afternoon. This deal all but ensures that Bailey will be on the Islanders roster come Opening Night on Friday against the Devils at The Rock. This also all but ensures that Bailey will be on the Islanders roster for at least the first nine games. After nine games, the Isles can either keep Bailey on the roster, at the risk of his deal kicking in, or send Bailey back to his junior team and preserving the deal until he comes back later. Bailey could center a line with Kyle Okposo on his right side, as he found great success with him during training camp. Bailey seems to fit in really well with the team right now, so why mess up what seems to be a sure thing? This team is all about kids, so why not give him a shot to play all year? We will see.
