State of the Jets

Sorry for being away for so long. I just had so many things to do, but now I'm back. But that's enough of me, let's talk about the Jets. Yeah, that's right, I'm talkin' about that sorry team that plays in a stadium with another team's name on it (that's an argument for another day). But really, the Jets started of great with a win over Miami on opening day, but then they couldn't beat the Brady-less Patriots, losing at home 19-10 and then they embarrassed themselves on Monday Night Football, losing to the Chargers 48-29. Then they almost blew a 35-0 halftime lead over the Cardinals to pull it out 56-35, but then the fun started (complete sarcasm) as they beat the JV High School football team, the Bengals, lost to the then 1-4 Oakland Raiders, while scoring a disgusting 10 points on offense, and then almost losing to the 1-6 Kansas City Chiefs as Brett Favre looked so awful.

Last weekend he actually looked like Chad Pennington while throwing those three awful interceptions. The three teams west of the Mississippi (excluding the Cardinals) that the Jets have played this season are a combined 6-16 and the Jets have gone 1-2 (almost 0-3) in those games. To make the playoffs, you can't have a team that almost goes 0-3 to three teams like that, it just can't happen.

Favre has been awful the last five weeks too, throwing ten interceptions in that span to now lead the NFL in INTs with 11. Chad Pennington could have done that in a Jets uniform for free, but instead we gave up draft picks for what seems these last five weeks to be Chad Pennington II. Tomorrow (or later today, depending on how you want to look at it) the Jets will play the biggest game of the season against the Bills as it is a game for first place. A win and the Jets are 5-3 and in a tie for first with the Bills and Patriots, but a loss puts them at 4-4 and in a tie for the cellar spot with the Dolphins. If Favre can keep the INT total at 0 or 1 and if "Neon" Leon can be himself, the Jets will win, but if not, it will be another frustrating weekend for the Jets and their fans.
